ABOUT ITU Itu fuses mellow guitar rhythms and soulfully smooth vocal tones with intense lyrical content. The result is a melodic tapestry of beautiful thought provoking tunes. The style is simple poetry and insight through music. It's for those who don't mind a lil substance for the soul and a hopeful spin on the human condition.
BACKGROUND Fijian born, Itu grew up in the Riverina and South Coast regions of NSW. Born into a musical family, she developed an ear for vocal harmony and natural rhythm at an early age. But it wasn't until a long stint living in several university houses in Wollongong, that the songwriting began to take greater momentum and priority;
"Everyday was utter chaos,music soon became the stabilizing medium of choice. Stories told and unfolded themselves with each new experience. And utmost beliefs and opinions were easily aired through the safety of song. Eventually the tunes made their way to centre stage where they continue to develop and draw from the changing landscape of current day."
Since moving to Sydney five years ago, Itu has been showcasing her work to packed venues across inner Sydney building an ever increasing support base on the local scene. She has also supported great indie acts including Paul Greene, The Sunpilots, Sam Buckingham, Bride O'Brien and Ember Swift (Canada) just to name a few. |
